Consulting Consulting Services

We offer a variety of services to address needs from new construction projects to existing structure repair/maintenance.   We reference voluntary specification and performance guidelines outlined by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA 101, 501, 502, 503 and 511) which in turn refer to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standards for field evaluation.  Below is a list of ASTM standards that we utilize during our evaluation of field conditions:

  • ASTM E 699 - Standard Practice for Evaluation of Agencies Involved in Testing, Quality Assurance, and Evaluating of Building Components.
    • This practice provides a guide for the information to be obtained and provides specific recommended criteria for evaluating the capabilities of an agency to conduct inspections and tests and to report on tests performed in accordance with ASTM standards...

  • ASTM E 2128 - Standard Guide for Evaluating Water Leakage of Building Walls.
    • This guide describes methods for determining and evaluating causes of water leakage of exterior walls.  For this purpose, water penetration is considered leakage, and therefore problematic, if it exceeds the planned resistance or temporary retention and drainage capacity of the wall, is causing or is likely to cause premature deterioration of a building or its contents, or is adversely affecting the performance of other components.  A wall is considered a system including its exterior and interior finishes, fenestration, structural components and components for maintaining the building interior environment.

  • ASTM E 1105 - Standard Test Method for Field Determination of Water Penetration of Installed Exterior Windows, Skylights, Doors, and Curtain Walls, by Uniform or Cyclic Static Air Pressure Difference.
    • The test method is applicable to any curtain wall area or to windows, skylights, or doors alone.  It is intended primarily for determining the resistance to water penetration through such assemblies for compliance with specified performance criteria, but it may also be used to determine the resistance to penetration through joints between the assemblies and the adjacent construction.  This standard simulates a wind driven rainstorm.

  • ASTM E 783 - Standard Test Method for Field Measurement of Air Leakage Through Installed Exterior Windows and Doors.
    • The test method is applicable to exterior windows and doors and is intended to measure only such leakage associated with the assembly and not the leakage through openings between the assemblies and adjacent construction.

  • ASTM D 5957 - Standard Guide for Flood Testing Horizontal Waterproofing Installations.
    • The purpose of this guide is to provide the user with a method for testing the water tightness of waterproofing installations applied to horizontal surfaces having a slope not greater than 1/4 in. per ft. (2% slope).  These procedures are not intended for use on those waterproofing installation applications that are for long-term water storage or continuously submerged environments (storage period greater than 48 hours).
